IP addresses are a series of numbers in the form: nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn, where nnn is a one to three digit number. An IP address is unique to an individual computer on a network, similar to how your home has a unique address. For an Internet connection, an IP address is supplied by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). In some cases, your ISP may provide you with more than one IP address, which allows you to connect multiple computers. As you will see later, however, you can still connect multiple computers with a single IP address.

Hard drive nowadays is cheap and you can get an external hard drive (small USB powered hard drive) for a cheap price. 5400 RPM is good and 7200 RPM is better. Do not shop for size. Shop for speed (RPM). If you need extra low speed memory, you can always get them later for a very cheap price.
Seek… and find. That’s basically what your brain is doing as your hand points and clicks. Every time you use a program, you’re searching for a word or a symbol or a button that will perform a desired action or take you to a desired destination. So, what’s the big challenge? To think of the word that describes the action that you need performed. Words like… SAVE. MOVE. DELETE. CHANGE. COPY. PASTE. You know those words! And you can learn even more words, easily.
In fact, I can assure you that if you once try to learn about computers you will find yourself very interested. You will find out that computers are not so bad and they are easy to use. You gain so many conveniences using your computer. With just one click of the mouse, you will be able to accomplish many of your daily tasks. For example, you can book tickets for a concert, you can do the shopping online, you can check anything of interest, apply for loans and credit cards, play games, chat with your friends and colleagues, and of course, send e-mails.
I know some of you reading this are thinking “yeah, right.” But understand, I’m not asking you if you could suddenly find the computer easy. I’m just asking you to just imagine what it’d be like if computers were fun and easy for you.
You should upgrade your operating system. If you have a 286 or a 386 processor, you most likely have Windows 98, Millennium or ComportComputers Windows 2,000. For this project, you will want to upgrade to Windows XP or Windows XP Professional. Windows XP works very well on 286 and 386 computers. You will notice a dramatic increase in performance just by upgrading these items on your used computer.
